“Writers aren’t exactly people… they’re a whole bunch of people trying to be one person”

f. scott fitzgerald

Hello, I’m Ryan. I am a writer currently dwelling in Avondale, Florida. I live happily a walk away from the river and a short drive from the ocean and am spending my days reading, writing and taking walks under the canopy of live oaks.

I developed a love of literature as a young child when my grandfather would read The Secret Garden and Moby Dick to me. By the time I could hold a pencil I was already full of ideas and I tried my turn at the tales I loved so much. I was only 9 when I won my first poetry contest for a poem entitled “The Light Within,” the following year I won a First Place ribbon in a state contest for my poem “The White-Winged Dove.” I was an “old soul” as my grandfather put it.

Today- My evenings are filled with writing, tea-sipping and creativity. I’ve written two successful blogs and completed a Young Adult novel. The past few years I have work-shopped my book at the Algonkian Writer’s Retreat in St. Augustine, Florida and online through Path to Publishing. I have kept my other musings mostly to myself, however, I’m excited to share my vignettes, poetry and short stories with you all. I have a passion for writing, it’s as natural to me as a deep breath.

I am an Assistant Vice President for a National Insurance Company, responsible for brokerage and consultation of large employers and new accounts. I understand the value of self-motivation, a time efficient product as well as marketing and am ready to put my drive and ambitions towards publishing my debut novel.

I love my days and the gift I’ve been given to write about my life and create stories. I am grateful for every moment and the ability to slow down and enjoy the world around me. To live is an awfully great adventure! I hope you find joy, laughter and empathy in my work. Enjoy!
