Young Adult Fantasy/Fiction

SECONDSTAR is a modern, young adult rendition of a classic tale about eternal youth and love, Peter Pan, but with a twist, it is told from Wendy’s perspective. This 95,000-word classic fairytale retelling is comparable to Cinderella is Dead, The Hazel Wood, and the original Peter Pan.

The youngest daughter in a family of women destined to fall in love with Peter Pan rewrites the script when she uncovers a mission of her own. Tempted in her dreams by the alluring Captain Hook on the idea that her dead mother could in fact be alive she takes off on a nightmarish journey of self-discovery to Neverland.

Uncovering secrets about her mother’s death, with the help of her grandmothers’ journals, lead her on a dangerous mission to find her captive and her destiny in the dark world. When challenges avail it’s up to Wendy to take the Pan Sword and defeat Captain Hook and the many obstacles the Island harbors to set herself free from the fate the women in her lineage have fallen prey to.

The clock in the belly of the beast is ticking as her time in Neverland is wreaking havoc on her existence on earth. To prevent being another prisoner of Neverland she must overcome her fears alone change her fate in this strange new world.

This story is a modern, dark fairytale retelling that follows a teenage girls dark and painful transformation into womanhood and self-actualizing realizing that love is not always the end of the story and happily ever after sometimes means letting go.

I have enjoyed a love of creative writing since childhood and have received many accolades for my work. In the past few years, I’ve workshopped this novel with Algonkian Writer’s Conference in St. Augustine, Florida and have gotten wonderfully positive feedback from significant writers who encouraged me to finish my book.
